OOTD - The Pink Duster Coat

I just can't get enough of Next at the moment! I am becoming a nextaholic but how can I help it when they keep bringing out stylish, reasonably priced, high quality clothes?!

The Pink Duster Coat (£65) from Next

So warm and cosy on the inside yet chic and elegant on the outside. As soon as I saw it I just knew it would end up in my closet. It's soft and feminine and perfect for autumn/winter. It brings with it that guilty feeling of wishing for colder weather to be able to wear it!

Silver Shoes (£28) and Silver Clutch (£14) - both from Next

I have looked enviously at people wearing silver shoes for a while now but I was never sure I could pull them off. I finally decided to have some fun and buy them anyway (and of course the matching clutch). I'm really pleased with them and will definitely be mixing them with some of my other outfits.

I wore my new Next goodies with my favourite Floral Peplum Top and Black Pencil Skirt (both from H&M), but it would look good with a white dress or leather look trousers.

You can also see this look on Chictopia. Let me know if you're on Chictopia, I would love to see your style!

Electro Baby Lips - Maybelline Beauty Review

Maybelline recently added 4 electro shades to their Baby Lips range. As a fan of the range, particularly Cherry Me, I was keen to try the fun new additions. For those of you have never tried this before, Baby Lips is a playful range of tinted and scented lip balms.

This is a subtle shade in comparison to the others. This is perfect if you are a fan of more natural tones. The best thing about this one is that it smells like a sweet shop!

Mmm orange... the colour and scent are as refreshing as a freshly squeezed glass of orange juice on a hot summers day. The orange colour is bold and not a colour I had tried before.

The stick looks extremely purple and I was a bit worried it would look like I had gorged myself on beetroots but to my relief it is a soft purple shade. It smells like berry sweets yum!

This is my favourite and it's the brightest one. I love bright pink and I regularly wear a similar shade lipstick. Whilst this is the most pigmented in the range, the smell was the weakest, but it still has a subtle sweet smell to it.

Overall, I was impressed with the lasting moisture these lip balms give and I like the fun shades and smells. They are reasonably priced at £2.99 each (from Superdrug) and great to use as an everyday product or if you want to have more fun whilst moisturising your lips.

July LoveMeBeauty Beauty Box

LoveMeBeauty is another wonderful beauty box I subscribe to! It stands out from the others by letting you select your box from three different choices each month. This is an excellent feature because you can pick which colours or products you prefer and if you don't like surprises you can see what's in the box before it arrives. The box costs just £10 plus £2.95 postage a month.

This month I was amazed to see lots of different products in each box. After a long period of indecision, I made my choice - Box 2. I was so excited when it came through the door and I couldn't wait to try out all the new products! My box contained:
  • So Susan Flutter Mascara - £14.95
  • So Susan Dual Brow Powder - £11.95
  • OFRA Pressed Eye Shadow in Bliss - £8.80
  • OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Hollywood - £11.60
  • Lashem Lash Enhancing Serum - 2ml sample, £40 for 3.5ml
  • Waleda Sea Buckthorn Body Lotion - £15.95
  • 4am White Tea from The Teashed - £3.50
  • An emergency teabag
There are enough makeup products in the box to make an entire look! There are products for your lips, eyelashes, eyelids, eyebrows and skin.

OFRA Pressed Eye Shadow in Bliss

This is a good quality eye shadow. There is a gorgeous gold pigmentation to it and I love the way it shimmers luminously in the light. I will definitely be buying more OFRA eye shadow colours in the future.

OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Hollywood

This bright pink lipstick is the perfect colour for Summer. The thick texture helps to give a good coverage to your lips. Although it says it's a long lasting lipstick, I found that it faded after a few hours, so definitely pop it in your handbag to top up throughout the day.

So Susan Flutter Mascara

This is a subtle but pretty mascara. The fine texture doesn't leave any big chunks on your lashes. I like the way it gives long lasting definition.

So Susan Dual Brow Powder

I had never tried an eyebrow powder before, as I normally just use a pencil. I really like the two different shades. The shape of the brush is perfect for applying the powder, ensuring you can get your eyebrows looking just how you want them.

Lashem Lash Enhancing Serum

This little bottle nourishes and conditions your eyelashes, whilst also enhancing them to make them look longer in just two weeks! It's easy to apply and I look forward to seeing the results soon.

Waleda Sea Buckthorn Replenishing Body Lotion

I can't get enough of the fresh citrusy smell! This is a wonderful body lotion that rejuvenates your dry skin and leaves it feeling moist for most of the day.

The Teashed 4am Tea

This white tea is named 4am tea because it's low in caffeine so you can drink a cup of it without worrying about not being able to sleep. I am a tea-addict so I can't wait to try this out, although I'm not going to be getting up at 4am!

Overall, LoveMeBeauty gave us a real treat this month with 6 full sized products and an expensive sample. The 2ml Lashem bottle is worth around £20 alone. I am super impressed with the amount of high quality products in this box. I also enjoy the variety - from Lipstick to Teabags! It can be hard to choose your box if you're indecisive like me, but it does give you more power over the contents and ensures there are no surprises.

Each beauty box I subscribe to is fantastic in its own way and this is one subscription I'll definitely be keeping on.

New Look Fashion Haul

My local New Look store in Brighton was relaunched last Friday with a 'new look' so I thought I would check it out, especially when I heard they were giving away goodie bags! Who doesn't like freebies?!

I loved the new layout the minute I walked in. As this was the re-opening, there was a live DJ, a nail bar, a lash bar and stunning displays. After a good browse of all the beautiful clothes on the ground floor, I ventured upstairs and was greeted by nearly a whole floor of shoes and accessories! I was in fashion heaven!

After exploring the shop to my hearts content, I filled my basket and headed to the till. This is what I got:

Floral Top with Collar - £14.99
I loved the combination of the floral print and the white peter pan collar - it improves upon the timeless floral top by adding an interesting twist with the contrasting collar. This top could be styled with many different items and colours, it's very versatile.

Orange and Blue Floral Top - £12.99
Another floral top! It looked so cute and summery on the hanger, I just had to buy it. It looks even better on, especially with blue trousers or jeans for a casual look. It can also be dressed up with a navy skirt.

Polka Dot Clutch - £12.99
This clutch grabbed my attention whilst I was waiting in the queue. I wanted it so much that I left my place near the front of the queue to grab it! It was totally worth it! I think it would look great with the classic little black dress. I can't wait to carry it around!

Necklace - £5.99 and Bracelet - £7.99
I love how sparkly these are and I'm looking forward to testing them out with the rest of my wardrobe.

Stack of 5 Rings - £3.99
These are fun to mix and match with other rings or you can wear them separately or as a stack.

Daisy Ring - £2.99
I got this to match the floral tops, I can never have enough flowery items!

Floral Sippee Cup - £5.99
Okay, one more floral item! I have been using this everyday at work since I got it. I am a Sippee cup convert! New Look had several patterns to choose from but with my floral addiction I couldn't resist this one.

You can buy the items in store or online at www.newlook.com.

Goodie Bag:
I was so excited to see what was in my goodie bag and it was even better than expected!! It contained: white sunglasses, a chunky gold bracelet, Eylure false lashes, a Montagne Jeunesse strawberry soufflé face mask and strawberry sweets!

As you can probably already tell, I am a tad obsessed with floral! It's one of my favourite patterns especially in Spring and Summer because it's so pretty and feminine. I was pleased to find an overload of floral when I went into New Look and will definitely be going back to get more!

Shockwaves Volume Mousse Review

I was lucky enough to receive a free bottle of Shockwaves Volume Mousse from being a member of BzzAgent. BzzAgent is a service where you can try products for free as long as you submit a review and tell friends (honestly) about the product. Anyone can sign up and it's free to join. In the past few months, BzzAgent have sent me a bottle of the Optrex Eye Reviving Mist, the TREsemme 7 Day Smooth shampoo, conditioner and serum, a Santa Maria Mexican fajita kit (which was delicious by the way!) and now the Shockwaves Volume Mousse! You can buy the Shockwaves Volume Mousse at Superdrug for a reasonable £2.75.

Like many of you, I have fine hair and often struggle to create volume (I only ever blow dry my hair with my head upside down!). I have tried rather a few hair products in the past with the hopes that I will suddenly get thick luscious look-at-me locks but mostly I have been disappointed. So I was looking forward to trying a new product that might go someway to fulfilling these hopes.

To apply the mousse, I first towel dried my hair after a shower. I then dolloped a plum sized amount of Shockwaves volume mousse in my hand (the instructions don't specify how much to use so I just guessed!). I patted my hands together and tried to evenly distribute it by running my hands gently through my hair. I then brushed my hair to disperse the mousse even more. To finish I put my head upside down (definitely optional!) and then blow dried my hair and gave it a final brush through.

The results were pretty good. My hair definitely had more life and 'ooooomph' to it, whilst also remaining smooth and shiny for most of the day. I was also pleased that my hair didn't feel crunchy like it can with some mousses and sprays. The final test was receiving the stamp of approval from my boyfriend - a compliment on my shiny voluminous hair!

Overall I was grateful to Shockwaves for the sizeable boost to my flat fine hair!

July Birchbox - Sun, Sea and Sand

Birchbox is a monthly beauty box subscription service. It is yet another beauty box I am subscribed to (I'm a little obsessed with beauty boxes!). The service costs £10 (plus £2.95 postage) each month and every box contains at least 5 beauty samples. There are also variations between the boxes depending on the information you enter on your beauty profile.

July's theme is Sun, Sea and Sand. My box contained:
  1. Whish Three Whishes Lavender Body Butter (£14.50 for 150ml from Birchbox)
  2. Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream (£20 for 15ml from Birchbox)
  3. LAQA & Co. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil in Menatour (£14 from Birchbox)
  4. Benefit The Porefessional (£24.50 from Birchbox)
  5. Models Own Glitter Nail Polish in Aqua Splash (£5 from Birchbox)
  6. Filosofille 4-Sided Nail Buffer (I couldn't find this product online but there were other products from the brand available at Selfridges)

I was first drawn to the purple LAQA & Co. 'Lip Lube'. Purple lip colour is definitely for the adventurous and I had never tried it before. I didn't think it would suit me but it actually looked great on! Although it had a yummy peppermint smell to it I did resist trying to eat it.

I was really pleased with the Models Own nail polish colour. It's a beautiful aqua colour with silver speckles of glitter in it. I'm looking forward to trying it next time I change my nail polish. I will also be using the emery board as its a nail essential.

The Whish Body Butter had a lovely lavender smell to it and it wasn't greasy like a lot of body butters can be. It's a great product to apply after having a shower or a bath to keep your body moisturised and smelling good.

I already had a bottle of the Benefit Porefessional which I often use as it's perfect for hiding large pores so I was happy to get a refill! I loved the box it came in (unfortunately it's only a picture of a Porefessional action figure!).

I tested the Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream by rubbing a small amount underneath each eye and it was soaked up in no time. I couldn't really notice any results because you probably have to use it daily for a few weeks before you see the benefits. Another great smelling product in the box, this one smelt like cucumber! I'm sure with a name like Wonder Eye Cream it will do wonders!

The box even contained some cute themed cards with beauty tips on the back. Overall I enjoyed this month's Birchbox and am intrigued to see what other people got in theirs!

Lips: Bold vs Nude

Even though I don't often wear lipstick I somehow seem to have accumulated rather a few! So this week I decided to put two of them to the test. I went for two opposites - Bold vs Nude.

The first I tried was the L'Oreal Infallible 24H Lip Colour in Flawless Fuchsia which you can buy from Boots for £9.99. I was drawn to the beautiful bright pink colour on the side of the bottle.

The second is the Illamasqua Glamore Nude Lipstick in Rosepout which I received in the Latest in Summer Glamour Edit Latest in Beauty box (see my earlier post). You can also buy it froIllamasqua for £18.50.

I applied the Illamasqua nude lipstick over lip balm to keep my lips moist. The nude lip colour created a modest look which looked great with fuller eye makeup. The only down side was that it rubbed off quite easily so it would be a good idea to keep it in your handbag!

I applied the L'Oreal lip colour by first using the colour brush and then once that dried I applied the lip balm that is included on the other side. The resulting colour is gorgeous and really brightens up your face. I was also very impressed with the stamina of the L'Oreal lip colour. I popped some on in the morning before work and by the afternoon, it had only rubbed off a little around the edges. This was even more noticeable when I tried to wash it off my arm (after the photo shoot) and ended up having to scrub it off with a makeup wipe! With this bold lip look I wear more subtle eye makeup, usually just eyeliner and mascara otherwise it would be an overload!!

If I had to choose between the two looks I would definitely go for the bold lips as it looks more playful and lasts longer. Although it's hardly fair to compare an infallible 24H lip colour to a normal lipstick.

Will you be going bold or nude this summer? (I'm talking about lipstick of course!)

Summer Beauty is Here! The New Summer Glamour Edit Latest in Beauty Box

Latest in Beauty is different from the other beauty box providers in that they do not provide a monthly subscription box. Instead they offer two types of beauty boxes. The first is one-off limited edition beauty boxes that are hand-picked by beauty specialists. The second is a build your own service where you can design a beauty box yourself from a wide range of options.

I'm a bit of a beauty box junkie so when I saw there was a new limited edition Latest in Beauty box out, I put my order in immediately! The new limited edition box is the summer Glamour Beauty Edit which contains products hand-picked by Alessandra Steinherr, the Beauty Director for Glamour magazine.

Just 3 days later, I got home from work and found a nice shiny package waiting for me! The very nicely wrapped box contained 8 full size products, along with 1 sample size for just £16.95 (free P&P).

I only had a brief look at the box contents before I bought it. Imagine my surprise when I interrogated the box and was confronted by a full size Illamasqua Glamore lipstick - which alone is worth more than the cost of the box itself!

The box contained:

  1. Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick (full size - £18.50 from Illamasqua)
  2. Toni & Guy Volume Plumping Whip (full size - £4.79 from Boots)
  3. Crabtree & Evelyn Nail Lacquer (full size - £6 from Crabtree & Evelyn)
  4. Bourjois Cream Blush (full size - £7.99 from Boots)
  5. Magnifibres Brush-on False Lashes (full size - £21 from Magnifibres)
  6. DHC Deep Cleansing Oil (30ml - £21.50 for 200ml from Selfridges)
  7. Rimmel Sun Shimmer Instant Tan BB Skin Perfector (full size - £6.99 from Boots)
  8. Velvotan The Original Tanning Mitt (full size - £1.50 from Tesco)
  9. Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection Ultra Radiance Sun Lotion SPF30 (full size - £5.99 from Hawaiian Tropic)
Total = £75.99

To top it all off, there was also a leaflet with offers for Magnifibres (£5 off), Illamasqua (20% off), Rimmel, Strip, Hawaiian Tropic and Crabtree & Evelyn (£5 off).

You can purchase this box from Latest in Beauty. Unfortunately, unlike Glossybox which has an international presence, Latest in Beauty currently only ships to the UK.

All in all I would highly recommend the summer Glamour Beauty Edit box as not only is it fantastic value for money, it contains a range of high quality products that I am excited to try this summer.

Paint Them Silk! - Barry M Pink Silk Nail Polish Review

It's so much fun experimenting with nail polish! You use your hands for so many different things it's easy to spend half the day staring at your nails. So why not liven them up and try out new styles?

I was wandering through boots the other day (I say wandering but I spent over half an hour just looking at the different cosmetics!) and I came across the new silk nail polish by Barry M. I have always been unsure of textured nail polishes but this one looked intriguing. I decided to try it out and grabbed a bottle of the 'paint pink' colour for £3.99 from Boots.

When I got home, I settled down in front of the TV and started painting my nails. I painted three layers of my new nail polish and finished with a clear top coat (I used Nailgirls 3-in-1 base/top coat but any will do).

Although I was skeptical, I really like the soft subtle shine, which has an almost silk feel to it. I don't often use soft colours, as I'm a massive fan of bright and bold. However the classy feminine look of this soft pink colour has won me over and I'm anxious to try more.

If anyone has any comments, recommendations or experience with this nail polish or other nail polishes from this range I'd love to hear from you in the comment box below.

That's all from me, see you soon! x

June Glossybox - Christmas once a month?!

Each month I sit expectantly by the front door, like a child waiting for the ice cream van, waiting for my monthly fix of beauty boxes to arrive. Beauty boxes are a great way of experimenting with new products (lots of things I didn't even know existed!) and discovering different brands. Glossybox is one of my favourites because the products are high quality and from a wide range of brands. The subscription costs £13.25 a month (including postage) which is good value considering what the products are worth!

This months Glossybox contained 5 products, 3 of which are full size.

1. Nailgirls 3-in-1 Base/Topcoat & Nail Strengthener

2. Teeez Beautiful Flat Stiff Brush
3. Rituals Qi Gong Spray
4. Pro:Voke Touch of Silver Brightening Shampoo
5. So Susan Universal Blush

Overall, this months glossybox was a good one! I am pleased with the size of the products and am sure that I will use all of them. The So Susan blusher looks so cute and I'm intrigued to try out the Touch if Silver shampoo. I will post some reviews when I try them out.

Maybelline Color Show Crystallize Nail Polish Review

Before I delve into the review of this exciting new product, I need to mention that I absolutely love nail polish. I can't go a day without wearing it and change my nails all the time. That said, I had never used this product before and was keen to give it a go but had never actually gotten around to buying it! Thankfully I received a bottle in my May Glossybox so I thought I would give a try and let people know what I think of it.

I started with a plain base coat (I chose grey but you can use any dark shade). I then applied two coats of the Maybelline Color Show Crystallize nail polish in Nearly Black. It was easy to apply and dried quickly. To finish I applied a top coat of Nail Girls 3 in 1 base/top coat.

The nail polish has an interesting texture and looks great! It has also lasted a while without chipping. (The photos were taken 3 days after and show little signs of chipping).

There are lots of other colours in the range and after the great results of this one I would like to try them out too! Have you tried any of the other colours? What's your favourite?
